Pre-Match Player Profile – Chris Guccione

"With his height and his serve, he could be f...ing lethal out there…He should be top-30 in the world and trouble anyone if he was properly fit." - John Newcombe

We’ve got a very special Pre-Match Player Profile tonight. Why? Because THE BIG GUY TURNS 24 YEARS OLD TODAY!! Everybody…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And for your birthday, you get an evening session match with #2 seed Mardy Fish! Congratulations!

Our birthday boy is a 6’7” lefty from Melbourne, Australia. He’s in his sixth year as a pro and has a killer serve. Just how killer? Well, he served up 50 aces in a 2005 qualifying match at Wimbledon. Reality TV star and financially troubled former pro Mark Philippoussis once referred to him as a Wayne Arthurs clone. Now, I don’t really know how much of a compliment that is beyond the serve, but I suppose he’ll take it. I wouldn’t mind having my serve compared to one of the greatest servers in recent memory. He accompanies his big serve with a side of volley. With a big wingspan, the Australian is tough to beat at the net.

Going into the match tonight, Guccione is 5-5 on the year. He’s currently ranked 112th and hit a career high ranking of 67th last July. He’s a career 0-2 against Mardy Fish and if my predictions are true, he’s going to finish the night 0-3 against Fish. Sorry buddy but congrats on the win over Kevin Kim.
